I bought a 96 impreza brighton with an ej22 swap in it, drove it nearly five hours home, and I've been working on cleaning it up and correcting things since, 2 days ago it broke down and I haven't been able to get it started since.
did a tune up, new plugs and wires, immediately ran loads worse, tried different set of plugs and wires, no change
realized there were NO o2 sensors at all, started driving to an exhaust shop to have a bung welded in, car died on the way there, wouldn't start back up
pulled it to the exhaust shop, had the bung welded up, and I have been trouble shooting since
DEFINATELY getting fuel, DEFINATELY NOT getting spark off the coil.
but coil checks out 100% compared to a new unit.
figured I'd take a look at the ignitor and the ecu, so I started looking at the ecu part number which is (as far as I can tell) 2261 AD68B
which comes up as a 96-99 legacy 2.5 a/t ecu. in a 96 impreza 5sp originally 1.8 with a 2.2 swap. WHAT. I also found some moisture/corrosion inside the ecu, and now I'm just curious about which ecu I should buy to replace it.
any help would be greatly appreciated. this is my only car at this point and I need to get it back on the road asap
