This is for a 98 STi type R with a EJ20K motor.
My car requires 10 or more cranks to start during summer the first try. If I attempt to restart the car right away after the first start it will start normally, but If I wait for a minute or so after the first start it will require another 10+ cranks.
Under load and at WOT the car runs awesome, no hesitation or stumbling even at idle.
I noticed that if I leave the key on the "ON" position without actually starting the car for 20 seconds the car starts perfect. Also, when I turn on the key I can hear the fuel pump for about 1 second and then it shuts off.
Items changed:
ECU
Fuel
pump
Fuel filter
FPR
COIL
ignition wires
spark plugs
I have a fuel pressure gauge on the way so will check for fuel pressure when it gets here.
After talking to a few shops I was told that the fuel return check valve is the culprit can anyone tell me where it is or any other ideas would be great.
