Hey everyone,
I am having a strange issue with my 1998 2.5RS. Mods include:
2002 WRX Motor w/ 101k miles:
-Blouch Evo3 16g
-Tial 38mm EWG
-Grimmspeed ewg uppipe
-STi TMIC
-Five-O Motorsport 1000cc injectors
-SPT Intake
-BPM GT 3" turboback
-Gimmick turbo inlet
-Walbro 255 fuel pump
-ACT HD Clutch w/ streetlight flywheel
I swapped the car in the fall of 2010, and ran it stage 2 for about a year. After this, I did my 16g turbo upgrade after returning from my 1st deployment to Afghanistan.(July of 2012) The car was tuned by Eric Minehart with Torqued Performance, and the car ran amazing. It was some time around May of 2013 that the issue started happening, but I didn't have time to ever really try to fix it, because I left for my 2nd deployment to Afghanistan.
Well, I am out of the Marine Corps now, and back home in Colorado, and here is the issue.
The car starts and idles great, and even drives around great under normal driving.(including low boost) But around 4500 rpms at full throttle, the car bogs and sputters and revs extremely slow. It feels like it is not doing anything with the boost its making. It bogs very bad and the car barely moves past the speed it was already going.
We have logged the car, and it is still making full boost(tuned at 20.5lbs if I remember correctly) I initially thought it was the y-pipe blowing off of the intercooler or something of that nature, but I have pressure tested for leaks, and it is all good.
Things I have tried to fix the issue, but it has not helped:
-Pressure tested for boost leaks
-New Walbro 255
-Two different known good MAF sensors
-Multiple known good coil packs
-Fuel Filter
-New Spark Plugs
-Fuel Pressure regulator
-New cam and crank position sensors
-Compression Test. Numbers were good and even across the board.(forget exact numbers.)
That's what I can think of off the top of my head.
I will post the Data Logs soon.
Any advice/brainstorming is greatly appreciated!!
-Brenton
EDIT: Data Logs. My tuner had asked me to do one log with me driving under normal conditions for 10-15 minutes, and another one with a 3rd gear pull.
