Greetings. I joined the forum last week as a part of my search for an RS. I used to have an '06 WRX Wagon, went to a lifted Jeep, and now ready to get back in the saddle.
My goal is to find a low-maintenance, reliable, fuel-efficient DD for under $6000. I plan on owning something basic for about a year before making another purchase. Miles don't bother me to an extent. It has to be stick and AWD. A stock 04/05 RS seems like a good fit. I promise I read the buyer's guide and searched for the obvious.
SIDE NOTE: I actually used the guide this past week while test driving an '01! Great write-up. In hitting all the points, the guide helped me realize that a newer body-style would better suit my needs.
To the point, I found a blobeye for sale in Jersey. Beautiful CARFAX! It's clean with tons of service history from 1 owner. No accidents reported. Though I am willing to spend more for lower miles, this RS seems like a good buy. Should I be worried about 200k miles? Are there any obvious questions aside from checking for signs of a blown head gasket, rust, and circling around for the diff's? It is far away so I need to be able to find out as much as possible from a distance.
This is its most substantial record within the past 50k:
176,013
- Maintenance inspection completed
- Oil and filter changed
- Induction system serviced
- Parking brake adjusted
- Front brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced
- Clutch checked
- Engine checked
- Brakes checked
- Front brakes replaced
