I get folks asking about turbo kit deals fairly often so I decided to make a list of things to know about boosting a Subaru.
MAP cars - EJ222, ej251
- Intake manifold from maf ej22s do not fit on these engines
- Stock injectors are topfeed, sidefeeds will not work
- OEM Subaru fuel pumps will not flow enough fuel to run an fmu with especially ej22t / wrx pumps
- OEM Subaru Turbo manifolds will not fit on ej222s since these are single port, ej25s will need a turbo water pump & cross member in order for the manifold to fit
- Perfect VF11s should not cost more than $50-60, that said I prefer 2.5l td04l's
- A td04l off of a 2.5l Subaru is a perfect match for a EJ222
- 2.5l plastic end tanked tmics off of 06-07 wrxs / 04-07 foresters are the best fit for a n/a to turbo conversion
- Buy a kit off of a car that was actually running well / person that is known to be able to put a properly setup kit together.
