Throw Out Bearing Clip Worn

I'm doing my first clutch job and found that the clip for the throw out bearing has a pretty bad wear spot. I was told by my neighbor that this is not normal, but he has also considered the fact that Subaru might have done things differently with the clutch design that might cause the clip to wear. Is the wear on the clip normal?
