Ok - will try to keep this short.
Replaced headgaskets on a 2000 forester.
Dropped passenger side head, breaking the plastic cam gear.
Grabbed the passenger side *metal* gear from my 2000 2.5 impreza and put it on.
Quite a bit of rotational play in that passenger side gear.
Put the impreza's timing belt on the forester.
Car won't start, heard a "thump" on attempting to start it.
Going to do a compression test and check the timing belt along with manually cranking the engine. Hoping I didn't bend any valves. Don't see how I could if the timing was lined up. Only thing I can think of is if the tensioner wasn't tight enough and the belt jumped.
