Hey guys.
We'll the car is a 2001 RS with a 03 wrx swap in it. What I want to do is relocate the lower radiator mounts so my aluminum dual core radiator clears my GTspec UEL headers (which currently they are touching) and make more room for my Spal fans and fan shroud.
My plan is to cut out an area, or cut out completely, the lower core support. Then I would weld in a piece of angle iron, and then whatever size tabs I would need to mount the little rubber radiator mount dampers.
My question is, can I safely cut out the lower core support and the bracket in the middle that connects the upper and lower core support and 1: not worry about disconfiguring the frame and 2: still rely on the hood latch to keep my hood closed? I'm on a deadline which is April 13 which is the first stateliness rally cross event in Rockford, IL. So basically it would be a temporary job so I could participate in the event, but I would like to come back to it and make a much nicer tubed front end and bumper beam.
Thanks for any support I really appreciate the help.
