what's the difference between hi flo resonator and cherry bomb?

My brother burned the resonator out of his greddy exhaust so its a lot louder then it should be and the core of the resonator rattles real bad inside the exhaust.

Can I use a cherry bomb to replace it? They look exactly the same. Metal core with holes surrounded by fiber packing.

I can get cherry bombs at work for about half the price of no name high flow resonators on eBay.
