Coolant turbo tank lines are like this?

I am in the process of cleaning up my engine bay and doing some overdue maintenance to the RSTi. Here is the thing, when shopping for a replacement radiator (as we all know they put way too many different designs in these cars over time) I am a little unsure of what to get.

I found an all aluminum one I would like for a JDM GC8, it has the top coolant hose connected to the left side, not the center like the WRX radiators (current setup). I like this for having more space in front of the pulleys and fans. The one I found for GC has no radiator cap on the until itself but does have the nipple for return.

My current setup, from what I have researched, is using a very early WRX or turbo fozzy radiator since there is 1) no rad cap 2) central hose outlet on top 3) a nipple on the left side for the return line to the turbo reservoir.

My real question comes in (see picture) the way I am setup now seems contrary to everything I have been reading about the proper routing for the hoses from the turbo tank. My line from the turbo tank cap is going into the nipple on the radiator and the middle line on the tank is going to the overflow bottle.

Now I have been running the car like this since I got it years ago and never gave it a second thought, never over heats or has any coolant issues at all. Is there something I am missing or is this an acceptable setup to run with this type of radiator and cap?
