Too much oil?

So I've read various threads on the topic of overfilling oil, and have read that our cars are designed to take at least one quart over the fill line.
I'm curious, because my last change left me half way up the twisted portion of the dipstick. How many quarts is that?

Should I be pulling off my oil filter?
