Replacing side trim/molding

I've read some threads about deleting the side molding, but couldn't find anything about anyone actually replacing it.

My unpainted trim is pretty beat up so I was thinking of removing and replacing it and possibly paint matching it while it's off.

I'm just wondering what it takes to remove and replace it without breaking anything, or if it is even possible?
